Prior to joining Kerrisdale, Edward Gu was the Principal/CFO/CCO at White Eagle Partners. White Eagle Partners is an event driven global institutional money manager specializing in spinoff, capital restructure, IPO, distressed securities, bank debt and special situation investments. Mr. Gu joined White Eagle Partners before the fund’s launch in early 2008. White Eagle Partners has $100 million AUM from a well-known seed provider.
Prior to White Eagle Partners, Mr. Gu was the Chief Financial Officer at global long/short value fund Apis Capital Advisers. Mr. Gu joined Apis pre-launch and helped the fund grow from $10 million AUM to a peak of $650 million.
Prior to Apis Capital Advisors, Mr. Gu was Controller at Welch Capital Partners. Welch Capital employs a value strategy with a focus on healthcare and technology. Mr. Gu was responsible for financial reporting, risk management, compliance and maintaining the prime brokerage relationship.
Mr. Gu is a CFA Charterholder. He earned an MBA and MS in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island and a BS in Physics.
